What the rules say for tourist accommodation
In Québec, a lifeguard is required whenever the pool is open, with some exceptions. A pool at a tourist accommodation of 100 m² or less can operate without a lifeguard, but only under strict conditions: a designated person trained in first aid on site at all times, a maximum of 15 bathers, no children under 12 without a responsible person aged 16 or older, no slides or diving boards, and more if the pool is deep.
